RADIO OFFICER / ELECTRONICS OFFICER ACADEMY

 

CORE PROGRAM

May 10 - June 17, 2006

 

1) USCG Basic Safety Training Course (USCG approved), including Basic Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques, First Aid/CPR, and Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities; May 10-16, 2006;

 

2) Radio Officer/Electronics Officer Orientation, & FCC 2nd Class Radiotelegraph Operator Course (FCC Elements 5, 6 & Morse Code Introduction); May 17-20, 2006; Optional “Morse Code” tour of KPH at Point Reyes, May 20, 2006;

 

3) Career Coaching Class : “Dream Job, Dream Paycheck” on how to achieve greater desired results & maximize your income, job assistance included; May 21, 2006; wine and cheese reception afterward;

 

4) USCG GMDSS General Operators Certificate 79 1/2 - hour Course (USCG approved); May 22 - June 3, 2006 (May 29 off); Tour of NMC, CAMSPAC, USCG GMDSS Shore Station at Point Reyes; Optional ship tour, schedule permitting;

 

5) FCC/STCW 96-hour GMDSS Radio Maintainer Course : FCC Elements 1,3,8 & 9, leading to FCC GMDSS Maintainer License; Also provides lecture and hands-on proficiency requirements of 46 CFR 12.25-45, and STCW Maintainer requirements under STCW Code, Chap. IV, Section B IV/2, “Training Related to Maintenance Of GMDSS Installations On Board Ships,” a requirement for GMDSS at-sea Maintainer designation on STCW certificate; provides practical techniques for maintaining GMDSS and related equipment; June 5-17, 2006; It is helpful if you bring a calculator to class with you (TI-30X or equivalent) ; If needed, Morse Code final may be taken any time prior to or after this date, retakes available; Graduation;


*The total package tuition of 1 - 5 above is $6495. Lodging is available at or near the ELKINS Coastal Conference Retreat. Rooms are available on a first come/first serve basis; although normally, rooms are $89.90 to $169.90 per night, plus tax, a special package fixed-price of $2495 is available if reserved for all class nights. Full kitchen facilities included for most rooms.
