STCW-01 |
| - The
International Maritime Organization recommends that this course
should be taken by every prospective seafarer. It covers training
in personal survival techniques and is based on the provisions
of table A-VI/1-1 of the STCW Code and derived from IMO Model
Course 1.19. |

| Personal Safety and Social
Responsibility |
STCW-02 |
| - This
course is recommended for every prospective seafarer. It covers
the minimum mandatory training in personal safety and social
responsibility required by section A-VI/1-4 of the STCW Code.
The course is based on the new IMO Model Course 1.21 and is normally
taken in conjunction with our course in Personal Survival Techniques
(STCW-01). |

| General Operator's Certificate
for GMDSS |
STCW-03 |
| - This
course covers the mandatory training requirements for the General
Operator's Certificate for GMDSS radio personnel. It is based
on the provisions of section A-IV/2 of the STCW Code and derived
from IMO Model Course 1.25. The course is approved by the US
Coast Guard and currently undergoing approval by the UK Maritime
and Coastguard Agency. Successful completion leads to the award
of a US Coastguard Certificate of Completion (Proof of Passing
Certificate). |

| Restricted Operator's Certificate
for GMDSS |
STCW-04 |
| - This
course covers the mandatory training requirements for the Restricted
Operator's Certificate for GMDSS radio personnel. It is especially
recommended for personnel operating fishing vessels in inshore
waters and voluntary fit vessels such as recreational craft,
who may not be subject to the requirements of the STCW Convention.
It is based on the provisions of section A-IV/2 of the STCW Code
and derived from IMO Model Course 1.26. The course is approved
by the US Coast Guard and currently undergoing approval by the
UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Successful completion leads
to the award of a US Coastguard Certificate of Completion (Proof
of Passing Certificate). |

| Radar Navigation, Radar
Plotting and Use of ARPA |
STCW-05 |
| - This
course provides training in the basic theory and use of radar
for those who will be in charge of a navigational watch. It is
based on the provisions of section A-I/12 of the STCW Code (Radar
Navigation - Operational Level) and derived from the recently
revised IMO Model Course 1.07. The course makes extensive use
of Radar simulators and can therefore only be delivered at approved
sites with suitable equipment. |

| Radar, ARPA,
Bridge Teamwork and Search and Rescue |
STCW-06 |
| - This
course provides management-level training in the use of radar
and ARPA, including bridge teamwork and Search and Rescue (SAR).
It is based on the provisions of section A-I/12 of the STCW Code
(Radar Navigation - Operational Level) and derived from the recently
revised IMO Model Course 1.08. Those who successfully complete
the course will have fulfilled the mandatory minimum requirements
of training in the use of radar and ARPA to maintain safety of
navigation laid down in section A-II/2 of the STCW Code. The
course makes extensive use of Radar simulators and can therefore
only be delivered at approved sites with suitable equipment. |

| Elementary First Aid |

| - This
course provides training in elementary first aid at the support
level, as required by table A-VI/1-3 of the STCW Code. It is
based on the revised IMO Model Course 1.07. |

| Maritime Search and Rescue
(SAR) - Mission Co-ordinator |
IAMSAR-01 |
| - This
course is intended to provide the necessary training to enable
the student to successfully and safely carry out the functions
and responsibilities of a SAR Mission Co-ordinator in a maritime
search and rescue operation. The course is based on IMO Model
Course 3.14 and covers: the terms of reference for a maritime
search and rescue operation, communications procedures, operational
procedures, reports and returns, rescue of survivors, location
and equipment of regional control centres, search planning and
search patterns (including the necessary calculations), life-saving
signals and lookout procedures. The course teaches the methodology
used in the International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and
Rescue Manual (IAMSAR) Volume 2. The course is suitable for qualified
and experienced personnel who have served as masters or deck
officers of ocean-going vessels, air traffic controllers, air
or maritime pilots, naval navigators or instructors of air or
maritime navigation. |

| Maritime Search and Rescue
(SAR) - Administrator |
IAMSAR-02 |
| - This
course leads students through the guidance given in the International
Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue Manual (IAMSAR) Volume
1 (Organization and Management). It provides the information
and understanding required by those responsible for establishing,
managing and supporting national SAR services. The course is
based on IMO Model Course 3.13 (currently under revision) and
covers: the functions and importance of SAR services, relationships
between global, regional and national aspects of SAR, components
and support infrastructure essential for SAR, training needed
to co-ordinate, conduct and support SAR operations, communications
functions and requirements for SAR and basic principles of managing
and improving SAR services to ensure success. |

| GMDSS Coast Radio Station
Operator's Course |
CRS-01 |
| - This
course builds on the coast radio station operator's training
developed by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency to provide
the specialized knowledge required by radio operators keeping
a watch in a commercial shore-based Coast Radio Station in the
GMDSS. It covers the relevant aspects of Coast Radio Station
operation, SAR communications and operations, Maritime Safety
Information broadcasts, international and national regulations
and the essential business aspects of commercial communication
services. Students should hold a current GMDSS General Operator's
Certificate from an approved source and be fluent in maritime
English language before taking this course. |
